I have to admit I am the worst patient you can imagine. If something prevents me from
climbing, my patience runs out very fast. I guess this is not uncommon on psyched climbers. š¤·āāļø
So, how do we deal with f*ing injuries? These days I have been thinking a lot about it. š³
ā Writing these words has allowed me to change my mind, to increase my energy and to try to keep positive all the time.
The worst moment of an injury is when you donāt know what the origin of your pain is. š Going to different specialists and seeing no improvement is kind of desperating. It causes me a lot of anxiety. What I have learned with my experience is that it is better not to continuously change from one specialist to another one. š
ā ļø Human bodies are difficult to understand, so itās better to trust good professionals, wait a reasonable time to let them find your problem and believe they are going to heal you. This will help you calm down and it will make this horrible process a bit easier. āŗļø
Once diagnosed, everything should be seen clearly. In case you are going through the same situation, some tips that have worked for me are:
* š Donāt think that everybody is progressing and sending projects except you. Once you are healed you will catch up very soon.
* š Injuries should be understood as part of climbing. You can reduce them by climbing smart, but if you push your limits, you are definitely going to face them from time to time.
* š Donāt overestimate the negative impact of not climbing for a period of time, you are going to get in shape sooner than you think.
* š Try to focus all your energy on your recovering and think about future projects and rock trips to keep your mind busy.
* š Use your free time to work on other stuff because once you get well you are not going to do anything else but climbing!š¤
* š Walls are not going to move from where they are.
* š You are not getting too old to crush your projects and neither to push your limits. Just get well and go for it again!
Save this post and read it if you have an injury some day. I think these tips would have helped me to deal with it...
Take care!
